  • What are the do's and don'ts of banking?

    Don't share your Debit / Credit cards with any one. Don't share your personal information like Debit card details/PIN/CVV/OTP/Card Expiry Date/UPI PIN, over phone mails/e mail/SMS to anyone even though some one pretending to be bank officials. Your bank never asks for such details to customers.

  • Can you reverse a bank transfer?

    Your bank and the recipient's bank will need to co-operate to try to recover the payment. This usually involves the recipient's bank contacting the account holder to ask his or her permission to reverse the transaction. If the recipient refuses, your only option is to take up the matter directly yourself.

  • What is bank liquidity?

    Liquidity is the risk to a bank's earnings and capital arising from its inability to timely meet obligations when they come due without incurring unacceptable losses. Bank management must ensure that sufficient funds are available at a reasonable cost to meet potential demands from both funds providers and borrowers.

  • What happens if account number is wrong?

    Try to inform the bank and bank manager immediately after the wrong transaction. Money will get back to your account automatically, if the account number you mentioned does not exists but in case the situation is opposite, you have to take immediate action.

  • What happens if money is transferred but not received?

    The receiving bank is still processing the money. But some banks are slower than others — they might take up to 1 working day for them to release the money. So your money's safely on its way, but the recipient bank is still processing it. Your recipient can ask their bank to speed this up.

    Money paid under mistake of law prima facie is not recoverable from an innocent payee. ' This doctrine has been criticised as unjust especially where the recipient is a public body which would suffer no hardship by being called upon to repay but it remains firmly entrenched in USVI law.

    If both the sending and the receiving accounts belong to the same bank, the transfer will be made within the same day. Normally, when it comes to internal transfers, the amount will be available in the recipient's account instantly.

The only time you can keep money that is deposited into your account is when the deposit was intended to be made into your account. So, if the deposit was a mistake, you can't keep the money.
